There are often cases when you need to have an exact color
match on your card. Perhaps you have an corporate indentity that you
want to follow and you don’t want to deviate from that.
It’s not OCD...sometimes you really need to follow a very defined
color scheme. Almost all professional printers (including us) use the
CMYK (Process color matching system) that does not allow for an exact
matching of colors. If you need to have an exact color match then you
will have to use the Pantone color system. Using this method can
considerably increase the costs of your printing. Printing Pantone
colors also means that you can use unlimited colors, so you could not
embed full color images on your appointment card and you’d just
be limited to shades/tints of the specific Pantone colors, such as 50%
of the color.
Pantone colors come in a much broader spectrum of colors in
the color gamut. CMYK - Process colors
cannot print vibrant shads of blue, green, purple (such as Royal Blue
and Royal Purple). You also can’t print fluorescent colors with
the CMYK color system. Only the Pantone color system can be used for
these colors.
The image below shows a card that was designed entirely with
the Pantone color matching system. In this case Pantone blue and Green
141 were used. A tint of 15% was used in the background
